About the Charity

Alpha USA is a nonprofit organization that provides churches and individuals with the Alpha course, a program designed to create open conversations about faith. Since launching in the U.S. in 1997 as part of Alpha International, Alpha USA has helped millions of people since they started and now helpes over 500,000 people engage with the course annually. With 7,500 churches and individuals running Alpha in the U.S., their mission is to equip churches to reach more people through community, discussion, and exploration.

The Need For A New Way of Working, to Enable Growth and Impact

Passion Fruit Partners collaborated with Alpha USA to modernize their donor and participant management by transitioning to Salesforce. Previously, Alpha USA faced challenges with disconnected data, outdated reporting, and inefficiencies that made it difficult to scale their mission. With Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) Passion Fruit Partners helped migrate Alpha USA’s fundraising and program operations from Raiser’s Edge to a single, streamlined system. Now, Alpha USA can track participant journeys and donor engagement and impact more effectively, empowering them to scale their work across the nation.

Pain Points

Inaccessible Data Slowed Impact

Raiser’s Edge was hard to train on and couldn't scale with the growing needs of Alpha USA’s global team.

Alpha USA knew that they wanted to update their systems to fuel the ways they were working to create an impact through their incredible courses, they chose to work with PFP to tackle the following issues:

  • The team migrated all data  from Raiser’s Edge for a unified donor and participant management system on Salesforce.
  • Created a single, accessible system for tracking donor relationships and participant engagement.
  • Established clear historical data tracking for fundraising, reducing reliance on manual record-keeping.

  • Funraise Integration – They implemented Funraise’s Salesforce integration for seamless donation processing.
  • The team enabled automated tax receipt generation and document processing using Conga.
  • Validity DemandTools – The team also introduced data deduplication to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Automated reporting, eliminating IT dependency and delays.
  • Fundraisers can now generate their own reports, reducing data request bottlenecks.
  • Leadership can access real-time insights on donor engagement and course participation.

  • Standardized processes across 17 regional offices, enabling specialized roles.
  • Increased efficiency allowed the team to train 50% more people to deliver Alpha courses.

Lack of Ability to Link With International Data

  • Missed opportunities to share and use data from other countries where they had opportunities to use campaign data
